College Football Predictions – Week 12

College Predictions

The super weekend is over, and it’s everything we could have asked for and more. Oregon is now out of the title hunt, and we’re down to four (maybe five) serious contenders. Another week closer to the final BCS polls and the championship game announcement. Let’s see who stays perfect after this week. But first, a look at last week.

Oregon losing to Stanford showed that a good defense does indeed win championships. I picked Oregon because it was the safer of the two, but Stanford showed again that they really are Oregon’s kryptonite. 0-1

Baylor is looking like they might end up as the 04 Auburn of this year. With Florida State and Ohio State looking good to go undefeated, and Alabama as well (even though they have a couple of top ten games left), Baylor could be left out. It’s too bad after they crushed Oklahoma last week. 1-1

Alabama struggled at first, but rolled over LSU. Up next, Auburn….well, Mississippi State I guess. 2-1

UCLA is looking to rebound from their near win over Oregon, but they had to play a good Arizona team. They held on by five to continue to try and make the Pac 12 title game. 3-1

Remember Miami? Remember when they were undefeated? They remind me of a team from last year – Mississippi State. Undefeated through the first half of the season, then they met Alabama and crashed and burned hard. Same hold true for Miami this season. What a disappointing loss to Virginia Tech. 3-2

Another week of getting my upset pick. Go me. I’ve said time and time again that Michigan is overrated for where they are, and it rang true yet again. 4-2

Week 1: 4-2
Week 2: 2-4
Week 3: 4-2
Week 4: 4-2
Week 5: 4-2
Week 6: 4-2
Week 7: 2-4
Week 8: 4-2
Week 9: 4-2
Week 10: 4-2
Week 11: 4-2

Total: 40-26

Week Eleven

#7 Auburn (-3.5) #25 Georgia

Georgia is collapsing this year. I don’t think there is any way they can spoil Auburn’s chances at an SEC West title showdown with Alabama. I look for Auburn to cover easy here and win.

#4 Stanford (-4) USC

No one would have thought this possible, but one of the most impressive teams right now is USC. Orgeron hasn’t done too bad of a job with the Trojans after Lane Kiffin was ousted. I don’t think they upset Stanford, but the line shows this one should be closer than we would have thought a couple of months ago.

#12 Oklahoma State (-3) #24 Texas

This one is going to be a heck of a game, and probably the best one of the day. It’s hard to go against Oklahoma State here, but I’m actually going to pick Texas. Texas and USC both were on terrible runs to start the season but have really turned things around.

#10 South Carolina (-13.5) Florida

How on Earth is South Carolina still in the top 10. I don’t really know what to expect from this game. Both teams are on a downhill decline like Georgia, but luckily for South Carolina they haven’t crashed as bad as some teams. I think they win this one, but no matter the outcome for either team, nothing will surprise me with this one.

#23 Miami (-3.5) Duke

I’m slightly surprised that Miami is favored, but they haven’t fallen that hard yet. A loss here will kill them, but I think they get it together enough to beat Duke. Everyone is hot on Duke right now, but let’s not forget – it’s still Duke.

Rutgers (-1) Cincinnati

This might be a weak upset pick, but an upset pick nonetheless. Cincinnati is still gunning for that last AAC BCS auto bid. They have to get past Rutgers this week before heading to Louisville in three weeks, but I think they can get this test done.
